Add emoticons option to chat room poppout

I am very interested in getting to do this but can not.
adding <div class = "arrowchat_smiley_button"> </ div>
<div class = "arrowchat_smiley_box"> </ div>
get the smiley icon appears, but do not know how to call the event that there will be emoticons box.
Could someone tell me how to call the javascript function to open that box?
