changing css?

I went into the css file to start messing around with some settings (e.g. I figured I might be able to center the bar with a fixed width equal to the 900px fixed width of my forum). I didn't get very far, because as I experimented with the css file none of the changes seemed to actually change the bar. Then I got the idea of commenting out the entire css file just to see what would happen, and that didn't change the look of the arrowchat bar either.

Is the size and placement of the bar set by code inside the js (like they are in cometchat) so that they can't be adjusted without a lot of work? I know you are planning to add the feature of making the bar centered and fixed width so no big deal, but I figured while I was waiting it would be fun to experiment. Any hints on how to change the css so the change actually makes a difference?

It would be a whole lot of work as of right now (like cc). This is because the tabs don't use absolute positioning to open and are hard coded into the js file. We'll be changing this to allow more flexibility along with the fixed width and 100% width options.
