Version 4.0 is already in the works and we need your help!

The desktop UI is stale. We are planning on a huge design change that will bring it up to the year 2020. With this design change, it is a possibility that we remove support for applications. Not only does this allow us to do some really cool things, but it would also improve the loading speed.

I am looking for everyone's thoughts on this. Do you use applications? Would you be disappointed if they were removed?

It would be great if users would receive sound notifications just like FB messenger and Twitter on mobile.

I would welcome the function Seen
when he starts writing three dots...

ArrowChat is the best solution for modern websites that want to have a caht like on Facebook

Thank you for the excellent work, I look forward to the next versions

Yes i agree!

I would like to make a suggesting, when a user shares a YouTube video, the video plays on the chat screen, but when a user shares a personal video, it shows up as "i have sent you a file attachment" can the shared personal video appear on chat screen like the YouTube videos? it's annoying to have to download the video file then open it on your mobile device, leaving the actual chat screen. If personal recorded video appears on chat window it is faster, easier, and more attractive, it also keeps the user more engaged in the chat, instead of leaving chat, download video, taking up mobile space and then opening the chat screen to reply.

Supposedly, it is supposed to be a TOTALLY new ArrowChat, not the same ArrowChat we have now with a new skin and build for PHP 8 not adapted for PHP 8.

This topic was first opened in May 2020. This is what you call throwing a bone, nothing more.
This is why I generally avoid threads like this, but the feedback was necessary in this case. This is also why I stopped release dates and ETAs in 2012.

These things take time. History shows that it's usually 2-3yrs between major patches.

I know that ArrowChat will be compatible with PHP 8 but please don't forget that lot of people still use their projects with PHP 7.1 in their servers. I'm one of them.

Why you use outdated PHP?
Best for better safety and performance PHP 8 or higher

"Still working. Finalizing the new UI right now."

Is the UI the first step or the last step?
If the last step then in a few days?

Because we use heavy old apps on servers that require php 7.1

I believe ArrowChat still works on PHP 4! We are careful not to use any new features of PHP unless absolutely necessary. It's important to us to support as much as possible.

Hi, Jason
will all the features listed in this topic be implemented?

- Edit own message
- Delete own message
- Simple Like/Unlike or Reactions of messages (like facebook reactions or xenforo 2 reactions)
- Quote of messages
- Set Link on part of the messagetext (like Arrowchat.com instead of https://www.arrowchat.com)
- Tagging of users
(like xenforo user tagging @username, that links the username to users xenforo profile and creates a desktop/browser notification visually and toggable tagging-sound.
If you type "@" and begin typing a name a drop down box should appear showing users names either all users or just those in the current chat room. like how facebook tagging works when you type "@")
- I would welcome the function Seen (when he starts writing three dots...)

and many other useful features...

Thank you.

Update time!

v4.0 is in full swing and planning on a release this year. The UI has been finalized. As a heads up, prices will increase with the release of v4.0. We haven't raised prices in the 12 years that ArrowChat has been operating, and it's finally time to do so. Stay tuned!

Good news. If you need someone to test and get feedbacks here I am.

For other hand I hope that this increase of price will be in equlibrium with a better performance, good minimal code and a friendly support for clients.

Yes, we will probably need beta testers with this version as the changes are quite extensive.
