The thread to discuss anything and everything v1.8!

Bugs, suggestions, or anything you want! A little bit of praise would be nice too :)

And before anyone asks, it is not available for download yet. Should be less than a week away.

No problem, it makes sense to wait for the update as it adds a lot of cool stuff :)

There is a formatting error with the pop-out chat box.

I have a screenshot and can share if you tell me how.

Not necessary, just need to know how to reproduce and what edition you're running.

the new version 1.8 sounds very cool. nice features!

unfortunately the major feature that many people asked for is not implemented!

"Joining multiple chatrooms simultaneously"!

Arrowchat-Team itself wrote on 30 Jun 2014 that this feature will be implemented in v 1.8: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1736&hilit=joining

there was a pool started in 2011 and many customers asked to implement this new feature: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=694&hilit=multiple

i like when arrowchat improves and implements new features! i was very enthusiastic to see this cool new version. but as soon i read the details and noticed that there is no "Joining multiple chatrooms simultaneously" implemented i was a moment very disappointed!

so lets look forward! why is this feature not implemented and can we hope that there will be a "joining multiple chatrooms feature" in the near future?

I've just installed this. Liking the new look. Good work on this :)

There are a few things that I have noted following the upgrade:

Complete Tab Synchronization
The Patch Notes state that "All window states, settings, and messages will be instantly synced between tabs. Sent message synchronization is still only available to push service users."

Does 'sent message synchronization' mean just messages that you send, or does it mean messages sent by all users? If it's the former, then I am not seeing replies from other users synchronized across tabs.

Embedded chatroom and popout
This is not taking about 30 seconds to populate the user list. Previously with 1.7.2 it showed all users in the chatroom the moment the page loaded or the popout appeared.

Administrators and Moderators
What exactly is the difference between the two? So far I haven't found anything that an administrator can do that a moderator can't. I thought it might be that just admins could make users into moderators as mentioned in the Patch Notes but moderators can also do this.

Personally I'd like to see moderators with a few less capabilities. I think that the Edit Description, Edit Flood Control and possibly deleting messages could be reserved for Admins only.

Chat Room User List
This seems to be narrower than previously or something else has changed. I regular user in my chat room now has their name truncated when previously it was fine. I've edited the CSS to resolve this but it might be worth looking at this as other Arrowchat admins may have the same issue but may not have the skills/confidence to identify the CSS that requires editing.

Mobile Tab
As I stated elsewhere, I like the idea of this but it is too big. I'd like to reduce the size of this tab - how can I do this?

I am on 1.8 using vbulletin

The pop-out chat box is formatted all weird.

The contact list is all squishy

The chat dialogue needs a line space between responses.... it's almost like it is word-wrapped.

Multiple Chat Rooms
We had so much other stuff going on that it didn't make it in this update. However, all the code limiting multiple chat rooms was fixed. This means that embedding and popping out multiple chat rooms will work. The last step is to simply make a UI for it in the bar. This will happen in a minor update (1.8.x).

Does 'sent message synchronization' mean just messages that you send, or does it mean messages sent by all users? If it's the former, then I am not seeing replies from other users synchronized across tabs.

It means messages you send but receiving doesn't always work either. We can make messages sync better without the push service but it's going to take some more time. The ArrowChat experience is also going to be better on a push server and there's no getting around that.

This is not taking about 30 seconds to populate the user list. Previously with 1.7.2 it showed all users in the chatroom the moment the page loaded or the popout appeared.

I haven't experienced this. Can open up a support ticket with your URL and a test login account. Please reference this thread.

What exactly is the difference between the two?

Good question! I believe the only difference is that admins can see reports on moderators/themselves. The reason the two exist is that there will be more differences in an upcoming patch and we then won't have to change a bunch of code. The plan is to allow admins access to certain features in the admin panel.

This seems to be narrower than previously or something else has changed.

It is indeed smaller. This is because the scroll bar was putting it out of whack in some browsers. We'll be changing all this over to text-overflow ellipsis soon which should solve everything (some of it already has been).

As I stated elsewhere, I like the idea of this but it is too big. I'd like to reduce the size of this tab - how can I do this?

Not easily - you wouldn't believe the hack job that the mobile tab takes to work. This is because zooming on a mobile device behaves strangely. If you want to dig into it, it's in the includes/js/arrowchat_mobile.js file.

Yes the formatting is out of whack in the new version. The left side is squashed and the avatars/text on the right aren't starting on a new line.

How does one delete/moderate chat lines?

That is only happening in pop out, correct?

You can't do it in 1-on-1. It's only in chat rooms and your user has to be set as a mod or admin.

The floating chat bar is massive on an iPad, it totally destroys the layout of my site and is really annoying. There should be an option to make it smaller.

Also I can't get it to work on the "mobile Skin" from IPBoard. Its just "white" when I put the arrowchat code in the template.

I also discovered, that the avatars in the mobile chat destroy the layout a bit if you have a "Recent Chat" displayed.

VideoChat & Fileupload are also not working over HTTPS/Cloudflare.

Thanks for the beautiful UI changes.

I can confirm that mobile tab does not play nice with IPBoard mobile skin and on larger resolution device. There should be an option to drag the tab or turn it off for individual users.

We knew there would probably be issues with the tab on some sites because of the hack job we had to perform. We'll continue to improve it in upcoming patches.

New version is looking pretty slick, but I'm also seeing very poor sync of received messages for chat and chat rooms when it's open on more than one tab. This has been a pretty long standing issue. My server is more than capable of handling the load from Arrowchat so getting the push service seems unnecessary.

The new look of arrowchat feels awesome. However i have one suggestion which im sure all will like it.
It will be awesome if there was an option to set our status messages and make that visible to other people while chatting. Say for example its raining in my place. So i would like to set my status message like "Its raining here and feels awesome" . this would bring more involvement and more people will feel good about it.

Waiting for your replies
