Change the text input colour.

I have been trying to be changing the colour input for the chat bar for the past 4 hours and I'm at wits end.
I found multiple post on the forums about the css and were to edit it but none of them have made a difference.
What's even more infuriating is that once the text is typed and you click out of the box it shows up in black, which is exactly the colour that I want
However, while you are in the middle of typing, it goes completely white so you can't read what you are typing. You need to write in the chat box, then click somewhere else for it to turn black to read.
Could someone offer some help?

.arrowchat_tabcontent textarea{color:#000 !important} should do the trick.

Thank you so much Jason! It worked perfectly.
The only place where the text is still white is in the option menus. Would you be any chance know how to fix this too in CSS?
