unable to open ArrowChat

We moved our Xenforo server from AWS LightSail to EC2, now with the centminmod OS, nginx, and PHP8. Our ArrowChat 2.2 was working properly, now we are unable to connect or open any chat windows. I cannot find any v2.2 docs to confirm this is a valid scenario or if we need to upgrade to a newer version. Please advise.

2.2 is incompatible with PHP 8.

I assumed that was the case, I bought the upgrade to 4.0.2 and it is installed
