server OS updated from Debian 5.0 to 6.0 and ArrowChat stops

Hi, I was using ArrowChat very successfully on a fairly large (80K members) phpBB forum for a few months. Then we did server OS upgrade from Debian 5.0 to 6.0, and all the apache2/php5/mysql5 packages were updated to new versions of the distro.
ArrowChat stopped working, it seems like working, but the main and only one problem is the number of users are always 0.
With browser/javascript/xml request debug tools, I can see the heart-beat is still going every 3 seconds and etc. This problem is now 3 months old, and I tried updating to new versions of Arrowchat and doing multiple fresh installations, nothing helped.
I am now on my last straw before I totally uninstall the software, and hoping some kind of clue that might help resolve this issue.
