Facebook has advanced settings, so we can disable the chat for some users, while leaving it open for others.
It would be great if you could add this setting.

Sometimes I just want to chat to a few of my friends, but I don't want all my friends to know I'm online. I don't want to unfriend them because of this.

Alternatively, just allow users to set their status as invisible. So it appears offline, but users can still talk to their friends.
