We actually were doing that before v0.2 because of the whole initial release date debacle. However, I stupidly decided to throw some estimated release dates around for v0.2 because I really thought it would be met. Lesson learned though, the response form now on with be "It'll be out when it's released."

You paid for beta software. We all did. If we wanted to pay for the full product, we would have waited until its final release. We all knew what stage the product was at when we bought into it.

We all knew what? Who?? I just found AC with a Google search while looking for a chat software ala Facebook. Tell me *WHERE* they say this is beta software on their site. Open the ArrowChat homepage and look:

(again, WHERE?????)

To sum it up they advertise a product with features which are *NOT* implemented in the software they are selling right now. This is called fraud.

Those features were intended to be included in the initial release of ArrowChat, but we just didn't fit them in. We simply just forgot to change that small text at the bottom of the page. Viewing the demo should make you realize that they are not included, but I know that's not an excuse to keep them there. Those three features (especially the chatrooms) aren't far away now.

Your first clue is on the front page in that it's not yet a 1.x release. Your second clue is all over these forums in the form of announcements as features are being added, worked on and planned for the 1.0 release.

Also, as has been made very public on these forums, your support and free version upgrades will be reset to day 0 when the 1.0 release is out.

This can all be found out in less than 5 minutes - that's how I made my decision to buy. I'm sorry you didn't take the time to look.

If you really think it's fraud, get your offered refund and come back when it's finished.

I found out flame wars and fights on forums were really worthless, so this is my last post on the matter. I just wanted to say what was begging to be said.

Wow, from reading these forums I thought I was the only one who realized this when I made the purchase. So that makes two people now who make informed decisions when spending money.

I think the initial issue is getting pushed to the back here by focusing on whether or not the software is beta. Regardless of the status of the software, the point that I was agreeing with when I made my post is that releases seem to be very, very far between. So much so, that it's getting to be a bit concerning for me. I know I'm not in the AC "office" to see what's really going on day-to-day, but from what I know about software development it certainly seems to me that the updates for a piece of software this size are very, very delayed.

I would partially agree with that. The v0.2 update really does have a lot packed into it which is why it has taken so long. The chatroom feature alone took a month to design. We also try very hard not to release updates with a few small features. It can often be very hard for people to update their ArrowChat installation especially when they have custom modifications. Hopefully, the automatic upgrade process will allow us to release smaller updates more often.

Right on Jason. I haven't lost all faith yet. I've just gotten a bit concerned with how long this release has been taking. I know that there's a lot going into it and, from what I can gather, you guys are working hard on it. I'll keep patiently waiting (though the patient part of that waiting is getting harder :)) and I'm sure that v0.2 will be along soon. Good luck with getting it wrapped up and delivered.
