Even though I have already pre-ordered, what is the real benefit of pre-ordering and not just buying it when it's released (besides the fact that you save thirty (30) dollars)? It's a disavantage knowing that I lose support days before the product is released.

The support and license time will not start until ArrowChat is released. Currently, the only benefit is the $30 discount. We would like to give pre-orders an early beta, but I'm not sure if that is going to happen.
