Wordpress Avatar Issues?

I have avatars active on a majority of my site and most of my users are claiming there avatars are not updating on the chat? is there something i would need to do to update this?

i actually just realized the issue, i installed a plugin so that my users could manually upload an avatar on my site for there profile but that doesnt link to gravetar, which im assuming is the way those get pulled.
