Unreliable chat responses - phpBB

When sending multiple messages, some odd behavior happens sometimes. On most occasions, the message stack isn't displayed until receiving another message from the friend, however I've also had the whole message stack just vanish after being replied to, however still present in the DB and after a refresh.
