I notice that v1.6 includes synced messages across tabs (which I realise is synced received messages only for those not on the push service).

I don't know if this is new to v1.6 but I've never had synced received messages across browser tabs (we're using phpBB).

Today I tested it after upgrading to v1.6 and it still doesn't sync received messages across tabs. I also tested it with the pop-out chatroom window and still no syncing between this and the chat room on the chat bar. A couple of times, even though the pop-out chat room was the active window, no received messages appeared but they appeared in the chat room on the chat bar, along with the 'new message' notification.

Of course if I refresh windows the messages appear in each instance of the chat room. However I would assume that synced received messages should be received 'live' across all tabs & pop-up without refreshing.

Any idea what the issue might be?

Any ideas about why received messages aren't being synced across tabs?

I've noticed that this has been queried before in these forums but with no response.

Like that person, I too can see synced messages on the Arrowchat forums though presumably that's using the push service. On my site where I don't use it I would expect to see synced received messages across tabs but I'm not.

Do you have the default configuration settings (heart beat, buddy list heart beat, etc)?

The feature is very finicky, but should work at least 95% of the time. It gets very technical for the reasons behind why it is so difficult to implement but there is no good way to do it. We had to do a pretty big hack job just to get received messages working.

The push service changes that because everything can be delivered everywhere at the same time.

Yes, all of the settings in Configurations are set to the default:

Message Heart Beat 3
Buddy List Heart Beat 60
Online Timeout 120
Idle Timeout 3

Anything else I should check?
