Error Code 500 when loading external.php?type=djs

Yesterday I downloaded the Arrowchat trial, but I can't get it to actually show up on my site. The debug page shows no issues, but the chat bar does not appear, and when I "inspect element" in Chrome, I see the following errors:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) http://mysite.com/arrowchat/external.php?type=djs
Uncaught ReferenceError: c_push_engine is not defined external.php:5

I'm assuming the second error is a direct result of the first, but I've done a complete fresh uninstall and download/re-install, and this is definitely out-of-the-box behavior. I'm on a "custom" site (one I built myself) so I generally know my way around, but I can't figure out why it's doing this.

Any suggestions?
