Text Box Not Expanding To Large Text

The chat system works fine if you're only typing a line or two of text, but if you're sending a paragraph to someone, it seems like the window does not expand with the next as you type, this is leaving users who write lots of text being unable to see everything they have just typed. For example, the two sentences before this one are enough to overflow the typing area on the pop-out. Is there any easy way to remedy this, or at least to make the default typing area slightly larger?
