Announce new topic/thread in chat

Something that came to mind which would be cool- although this might not be a 'notification' proper- is if a functoun could announce in a chat room/all chat rooms/specific chat rooms with the the new topic title/author and link to it. I've seen other phpbb chats which do have this feature. Let me know if you all think it's viable. Thanks.
