Show offline users in buddylist

Arrowchat doesn't show offline users in buddylist like Facebook, so if a user want to send a message to an offline user there is no way to do it.

I tried to make the modification suggested there (viewtopic.php?f=27&t=978) and I get all users in buddylist, but now I see the buddylist too high. How can i reduce its height or limit the number of displayed users?

Moreover I think it could be useful to show last users in buddylist not ordered by name, but based on the last interaction. There is any way to do this modifying the integration.php file for vBulletin?
