Proposal :
there is the " hide chat " option that hiding the chat ...
why not use it to be the " available to chat " option (instead of it)
mean :
wen user hide the chat he hide him self too (convert to offline) , and call this option "hide me from chat" / "show me in chat" and the user will see the notifications messages after he show the chat (or note him that there is amessages) .
then the users will Get used to this option and will be more easy way to turn the user offline for break time to go do anythings then back to chat .

In addition to the piece the " make me invisible " option with
"Messaging an invisible user will no longer display the offline warning"
to be in the friends list options menu to chat with offline status .
here user can chatting with offline status.
and keep the block users system it is very perfect .

or do this new idea :
change the hide option to this option :
turn chat off / turn chat on ...
with turn chat off this will mean that friends can't chat with this user for now with warning message but he will see the messages notifications after turn it on , i think this will be good idea .
